Frequently Asked Questions
-
I prioritize partnering with individuals from communities recovering from systematic oppression.
However, I am open to working with individuals from any background who are ready to take on this work and who resonate with my message and approach.
You can schedule a call to explore if we might be a good match for coaching.
-
I partner with each person I coach to co-create a tailored and individualized version of the awareness, practice, and trust cycle to their goals and needs.
I draw knowledge and tools from my lived experiences, spirituality rooted in eastern practices, coach training, studies in behavioral science and psychology, and work in recruiting.
Anyone I work with is welcome to let me know if there are particular parts of my background they would like me to bring more or less of into our partnership.

To fully show up for yourself. You will only get what you put into this experience. With this in mind, consider if you have enough stability in your life to move through this work before diving in.
I emphasize this point because some people come to coaching thinking the coach can and will change their life for them. I’m no such magician. I act as a steadfast and active collaborator in your efforts.
This journey will ask a lot of you. To arrive, question, break open, surrender, allow, and trust. I cannot do your becoming for you. But I can be with you as you unfurl.
I also ask that you show up to our sessions on time, be open to giving and receiving feedback, and make time for any tasks we agree upon for you to complete outside of our sessions. This accountability is the foundation upon which your progress will be built.

All of these and other growth and healing modalities tend to have overlaps.
The way I’ve experienced the distinctions between these modalities stems from differing focuses on time and expertise.
Therapy tends to focus on the past and healing old wounds.
Consulting and mentorship tend to lean on external subject matter experts to solve specific issues (i.e. resume review for a career transition) or provide advice (i.e. how do I apply for grants?).
Coaching tends to focus on developing awareness of the present and applying insights towards the future. A coach supports you in tapping into your own knowledge and abilities to achieve your goals. You are the assumed expert of your lived experiences in a coaching partnership.
-
I meet most of my collaborators every 1-2 weeks. This timeframe is conducive to keeping up momentum while also creating spaciousness.
However, there are cases where higher concentration (i.e. impending transition) or more spaciousness (i.e. goals with longer timelines) may make sense.
Each session is a moment for reflection and designing actions to implement in your life.
Between sessions, you’ll apply the actions you committed to during our sessions.
The feedback you gather from implementing those changes in your life serve as the material and insights for our following sessions.
-
Possibly.
The most likely channel for financial support is through a learning and development budget provided by a company or institution.
If you know your company has a learning and development budget, reach out to your manager to see how you can apply funds towards personal development (i.e. reimbursement).
Here is a template you can use to ask your manager for financial support.
Coaching is not reimbursable through health insurance at this time.
